Organise your bar

Once you have decided where to set up the bar, you need to organise a two-level cocktail counter that will serve as both your working area and a counter to serve drinks.

Drinks can be mixed on the lower level and served on the upper counter. This will ensure that no drinks are spilled on your guest and at the same time help preserve your secret recipes!

The counter can be in wood or steel and should go well with the decor of the room. An ideal counter would be about 3 to 4 feet wide. The workplace self should be around 3.5 feet (waist high), and the countertop's half-shelf around 4.5 feet height (chest high).

Semi-circular counters are most popular as everything is within your reach. A mantra: Be imaginative and create your own style and layout.

If space is a problem, use the base of the counter as a storage cabinet. You could put up a display cabinet along the wall facing the counter to show off your collection of drinks.
