1. Sweden
Not only does Sweden have the largest single population, it also has the world’s highest share of people living alone. More than half of all Swedish homes are occupied by just one person.
Around 51 per cent of Swedes are single, making solo living a defining part of modern life there.

2. Denmark
In this nation of a little over six million people, 50 per cent are single. As of January 2024, close to 3 million Danes had never been married.

3. Finland
Home to over 5.6 million people, Finland is one of the Nordic nations that has highest share of young adults living on their own. Almost half of the country -- roughly 49 per cent -- is single, a number that says much about the independence of Finns and how much they value their personal space.

4. Germany
In Germany, close to 48 per cent of the population is unmarried.

5. Norway
The serene Scandinavian nation of roughly 5.6 million people has 47 per cent singletons.

6. France
Of the 68.6 million French, nearly 46 per cent poeple are single.

What is the situation in India?
