Xiaomi has recently announced the signature edition of its flagship Redmi K20 Pro smartphone.

With the launch of Redmi K20 Pro, the Chinese phone maker has marked its completion of five years in India.

The Redmi K20 signature edition phone is not gold plated but it's made of solid gold and embellished with diamonds, the company claims.

Confirming the news, Manu Kumar Jain, vice president, Xiaomi and managing director, Xiaomi India said that only 20 units of the smartphone would be produced for sale.

The cost of making the phone is Rs 4.8 lakhs, and  Xiaomi will be selling the phone at the same price. Which means the phone's hardware comes for free.

So what's so exciting about the K20? Let's find out.

The regular K20 Pro comes in two variants -- 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM priced at Rs 27,999 and Rs 30,999 respectively.

For the signature edition, the innards are the same barring the gold body.

Redmi K20 Pro is also one of the most awaited flagships from Xiaomi especially after the success of its Poco F1 known as the flagship killer.

If you look at its specifications and features, the K20 Pro is in direct competition with OnePlus 7 Pro.

Display

The phone follows the modern design of full screen display without the notch.

To achieve this it uses the pop camera concept.

It comes with 6.39" inches AMOLED display and supports HDR.

It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Camera

Today, camera and video playback plays a pivotal role when it comes to picking a good smartphone.

Redmi's K20 Pro has 48MP + 13MP + 8MP triple rear camera setup and 20MP popup selfie camera in front.

All the cameras are supported by AI.

The main 48MP camera has a Sony ½ inch IMX 586 sensor with f/1.75 aperture.

The 8MP with telephoto lens serves 2x Optical Zoom and has f/2.4 aperture.

Both the cameras are guided by Laser and PDAF for its auto focus.

The 13MP camera has a 124.8 degrees wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture.

For video, the cameras support UHD 4K and 1080P recording at 30fps / 60fps, 720P recording at 30fps.

For slow motion recording, you can choose between 1080P and 720P at 120fps / 240fps / 960fps

Hardware

K20 Pro is embedded with the latest hardware technology -- the Qualcomm's fastest SoC Snapdragon 855, the CPU found on most of the latest flagships.

Design

The regular model comes with glass design protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides on aluminium framework.

The back is 3D curved glass exhibiting holographic colour shift in different lighting conditions.

It is currently available in three nature inspired colours -- carbon black, flame red and glacier blue.

Battery

The phone has a 4000 mAh and supports fast charging.

Besides the 9 volt charger which comes bundled in the box, it also supports 27W Sonic fast charger which can be bought separately.

Audio

The phone retains the 3.5mm audio port and includes Qualcomm WCD9340 an independent audio chip, a Hi-Fi DAC for HiFi sound quality.

There is a single bottom firing speaker.

Verdict

With all the features packed in at this given price, it's a bestseller.

But the important question is: Will you pay Rs 4.8 lakh to buy Redmi K20 Pro's gold edition?
