OPPO has launched the budget range OPPO F15 at Rs 19,000.

The Chinese phone manufacturer has focused more on beautification features in the camera and in making the phone slim and light by using plastic.

Let check its specifications and find out if it's worth a buy.

Design

When many phone makers are using glass to build their phones, OPPO has chosen to rely on plastic for its design and kept the phone's weight down to just 172 grams.

It is also 0.31" slimmer than its counterparts.

And at 2.88" wide and 6.30" tall, it will be a good fit in the hand.

Display

The phone boasts a 6.4" AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels.

The display includes the latest 3.0 in-display fingerprint sensor.

OPPO claims it will take less than 0.32 seconds to unlock the phone.

The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The front 16MP camera is placed in a water drop notch at the top centre of the phone.

Hardware

The phone runs on a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, with embedded ARM Mali G72 MP3 GPU clocked at 900MHz, which should lead to a better gaming experience.

The OPPO F15 will be only available in one variant -- 8GB RAM memory and 128 GB ROM storage.

The phone also supports a dedicated expandable storage slot, so you can comfortably store your photos, videos and carry your music library with you.

Camera

The camera setup in the rear includes an array of four cameras.

The main camera is a 48MP shooter with an aperture of f/1.7, so we expect it to perform better in low lighting conditions.

It uses the 4-in-1 pixel technology to get a more detailed picture, so the image processed would be of 8MP or a lesser resolution.

A wide angle 8MP camera with f/2.25 aperture will help you shoot landscapes.

The other two cameras are 2MP each, for portrait depth sensing and macro photography.

As said earlier, the cameras are focused on beautification so it includes in-app camera modes like portrait beautification, AI based video beautification, night portrait and HDR portrait.

For video, the camera can shoot maximum 1080p at 30fps.

It also supports Electronic Image Stabilization to reduce the shakes in video.

Battery

The 4000mAh battery embedded in the phone can be charged with the 20W fast charger included in the box.

OPPO claims the battery should charge from 0–50 per cent in just 30 minutes with the help of OPPO’s Flash Charge 3.0 technology.

Colours

The phone comes with Android 9 Pie, overlaid with ColorOS 6.1.2.

OPPO retains the 3.5mm audio port and has a Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

It will be available in two colours -- lightening black and unicorn white.

Verdict

It will be interesting to see how well the phone performs as the specifications, on paper, don't seem appealing.

With competitors like Realme X2 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro in the same price bracket, the OPPO F15 seems to be facing a tough challenge.
