Colourful Gujarat

The vast stretches of open land of Kutch were captured well for the movie Lagaan. And Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam captured a large part of life in a Gujarati Haveli.

Film: Lagaan

India's most eligible entry for Oscar in the recent times, Lagaan, was shot extensively in the Kutch deserts. The village shown in the film was the Jam Kunaria village of Kutch.

Film: Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

Many scenes from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam were shot at the Orchard Palace. Gondal in Gujarat was the location for the song Chaand chupa badal mein. During the filming of the movie, Aishwarya Rai stayed at the Vijay Vilas Palace, Mandavi, in the Kutch district of Gujarat. This palace was also seen in the movie.
