Sanjay Sawant
Designer speak: Swapnil Shinde at LFW

He has risen through the ranks -- showing in the Gen Next category in 2005 -- and will show his full-fledged collection this year.

About the collection: The theme for the collection is ‘Reality Escape’. And in keeping with the theme, the creations are theatrical, whimsical and over-the-top. Inspiration has been drawn from the 1920s to 1950s genre of Hollywood.

Trends to watch out for this year: Balloon and cocoon dresses and skirts have been big and will continue to go strong this season. However, there will also be a shift to fitted, clean silhouettes. Feminine, flowing drapes will be popular.

Your take on Fashion Week: Fashion Week is a great opportunity for young designers to show off their talents. I started off as a GenNext designer back in 2005, and am now showing as one of the regulars this year. So fashion week has been good to me, and has helped me grow tremendously, which is how the event helps boost young talent.
