If you love the sound of crashing waves and or enjoy noisy thunderstorms that light up the sky then head to Bordi.
Palms swaying in the monsoon winds and the unhurried pace of life at this village is what attracts urbanites to Bordi.
Its clean peaceful beaches with a backdrop of casuarinas and chikoo orchards lend loads of beauty. You can either enjoy a game of football on the beach or soak up the rains lazing on a hammock.
Located in the famous Bharda Hills, Bahrot Caves (Bharda caves to the villagers) has special religious significance for the Parsi community, as it was here that they first placed their holy fire after landing on the Indian coast. The holy fire was later moved to the nearby town of Udvada, where it remains to this day.
If you want to see the caves, hire a guide. It is a two-hour trek to the caves from Bordi. However, this should not discourage you from seeing the place as the view from the top is mesmerising.
A few kilometres from Bordi, surrounded by green mountains is the serene Asavli Lake, a pleasant place for a family outing.
