What: The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2006, on May 14, 2006, for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and certain other Group A and Group B Central Services/ Posts.

The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

For details regarding the syllabus and scheme of the examination, centres of examination, guidelines for filling up the application form aspirants must consult the detailed notice of the examination published in the Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar dated December 3, 2005 or visit www.upsc.gov.in4.

Are you eligible?

~ You must be between 21-30 years old as on August 1, 2006.

~ The upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ ST/ OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the notice.

~ You must hold a degree from a recognised University or an equivalent qualification.

~ You must be physically fit according to the regulations given in Appendix III of Rules for the Civil Services Examination, 2006 published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated December 3, 2005.

~ The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible, will be as follows:

How to apply

~ You must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from designated Head Post Offices/ Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 20 only.

~ Each such form can be used only once and only for one examination.

~ In case of any difficulty in obtaining the application forms from the designated HPOs/ POs the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC Forms Supply Monitoring Cell at the following number:

Fee

~ Rs 50 through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ ST/ PH candidates are exempted from payment of fees (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).

Important date

~ Please send in your completed application forms before January 2, 2006.

~ Last date for receipt of application forms for candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the notice is January 9, 2006.
