Shakti -- The Power is the moving tale of Nandini who becomes the target of her brutal father-in-law's atrocities.

Canada-based Nandini leads a sheltered life with her doting uncles (Tiku Talsania and Jaspal Bhatti). She meets Shekhar (Sanjay Kapoor), falls in love and the two soon get married.

Aishwarya Rai Later, when Shekhar hears his mother is ill, he decides to visit her in rural India along with Nandini and their son Raja.

The trip to Shekhar's village becomes a living nightmare as the trio find themselves attacked by hoodlums. In Shekhar's household, Nandini meets an indifferent, though domineering, father-in-law Narsimha (Nana Patekar) and submissive mother-in-law (Deepti Naval).

Narsimha wants to govern everyone's lives according to his will. Revolted by his behaviour, Nandini wants to go back to Canada.

A tragic turn at this point throws Nandini at Narsimha's mercy. Shattered and helpless, Nandini now has to save her son from Narsimha's clutches.

Then, unexpected help comes in the form of a village rogue (Shah Rukh Khan) in this battle of justice.

Why is Narsimha after Raja's life? Will Nandini succeed in rescuing her son?
