On October 11, the scene outside Amitabh Bachchan's residence 'Jalsa' in Juhu, northwestern Mumbai, was a beehive of teeming, eager, anxious people.

It was a special occasion: Amitabh Bachchan, the man they had come to see, turned 60. Every time the gates of the bungalow opened, fans would crowd around, craning their necks, hoping for one glimpse of their beloved superstar.

Seen in the distance, in white, is Abhishek Bachchan escorting a guest out of the house. The dawn of Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday was marked by a small puja and a book release in the evening. The book, To Be Or Not To Be, was wife Jaya Bachchan's gift to Amitabh.
