Kareena Kapoor

Grand daughter of legend Raj Kapoor, daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita, Karisma Kapoor's younger sister.

Date of birth: September 21, 1980

Education: Kareena attended Jamnabai Nursee school, Bombay but shifted to the prestigious Welham Girl's Boarding School at Dehradun. She took to studying commerce at the suburban Mithibai College, Bombay. She also went to Harvard for a summer course in micro computers and information technology. After her stint at drama school, she dropped out of college after grade 12 to venture into films.

Film break: Every filmmaker worth his salt had expressed a desire to work with Kareena. But Rakesh Roshan's Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai with Hrithik Roshan, was the film she chose. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding had her walking out. But she soon landed a plum part in JP Dutta's Refugee, which launched another star son, Abhishek Bachchan.

Ek Ajeeb Prem Kahani (Co-Star: Sanjay Dutt. Director: Mahesh Manjerekar)Abhishek and Kareena

Hits: Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (Co-star: Tusshar Kapoor, Director: Satish Kaushik)

Flops: Refugee (Co-star: Abhishek Bachchan, Director: JP Dutta)

Yaadein (Co-star: Hrithik Roshan. Director: Subhash Ghai)

Ajnabee (Co-star: Bobby Deol, Akshay Kumar. Director: Abbas Mustan)

The Look: With her classic face and those well-etched cheek bones, Kareena is a porcelain beauty. Her figure was perfectly highlighted by Manish Malhotra's trendy clothes in Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and the ethnic Amrapali's creations for Asoka. Although Manish is her regular designer; Kareena has also been dressed by Neeta Lulla for Yaadein and Bindiya Goswami for Refugee.

Plus: A born actress, she's magical on screen. Kareena exudes an aura of individuality and command before of the camera. Stealing the show from her co-stars is, unarguably, her forte.

Kareena and Tusshar Kapoor Minus: Her brash and brazen attitude has brought Kareena a lot of flak. She is a difficult star and loves to throw tantrums at her producer's expense.

Hrithik factor: Hrithik was to be her first co-star, but she eventually chose not to do KNPH. She loved both Hrithik and the film. It was during the making of Yaadein that rumors linking the good-looking duo started. Kareena, who gets along wonderfully with Hrithik, like Amisha, was reportedly miffed with the Roshans for not casting her in their next Koi Mil Gaya.

Strategy funda: Only the best will do -- Subhash Ghai, JP Dutta, Santosh Sivan, Karan Johar and Sooraj Barjatya. Even though her films with the biggies crashed at the BO, Kareena seems least bothered. To her, enjoying her work and showcasing herself as a capable actress matters. The outcome of the film is of no consequence.

Dream: I would wish to be on the moon. That is my dream. I want to go to the moon someday.

BO status: Kareena is right up there. Her films Refugee and Yaadein flopped. Ajnabee was average. Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai did well. But Kareena has proved herself as an actress. She caught the viewers' fancy. Besides, she has an extra edge because she comes from the Kapoor family.

Quotes for Kareena Kapoor:

Gautam Rajdhayaksha: She's a little mirchi, there is a touch of Kajol in her, actually. She speaks her mind without giving a damn for the consequences.

JP Dutta: Kareena is a person, who knows herself as a performer and as a person. Off the camera, you'd feel she couldn't make it. But once the camera was on, she's transformed into somebody else.

Abhishek and Kareena Abhishek Bachchan: Bebo is a great actress. In front of the camera, she is something else.

Subhash Ghai: She has a very instinctive talent; she is a bundle of talent. Only, she is a bit kiddish and speaks her mind without realising the consequences.

Hrithik Roshan: Kareena's irritating as hell when the cameras are switched off. But when she comes within camera range, she takes over the scene completely.

Amisha Patel: There is an invisible rivalry created by the media. The audience too, is curious to find out who is better.
