Is Aishwarya Rai's patch-up with her parents for real?

At the mahurat of Om Jai Jagdish, Anupam Kher's debut film as a director, Ash made an entry with mommy dearest.

Aishwarya Rai

Brinda Rai and Ash spent the evening chatting and giggling in each other's company. Ash these days either makes solo appearances, or with lover Salman Khan.

Recall the recent reception hosted by the Kapoors for Chimpu and his bride? Ash's parents walked in without her, looking distinctly uncomfortable. The usually affable Brinda dashed for the stage, wished the newly weds, and walked out, without mingling with the other guests.

But who can blame her? The recent media onslaught embarrassed not just the Khans, but also the Rais. Although some sources claim that, in a bid to get their daughter out of Salman's clutches, the media reports were spawned by the Rai family.

Ash is said to have mended fences with her parents. But, as long as Sallubhai is around, will the peace last?

No sister act for Urmila

Urmila Matondkar One certainly didn't expect to see Urmila Matondkar at the mahurat of Vashu Bhagnani's Om Jai Jagdish. That too, greeting everybody, accepting their best wishes.

Her presence confirmed the feeling that Ums is back in the project, although her refusal to play the sister's role stands. Instead, she will play Fardeen Khan's girlfriend.

Initially miffed, Anupam and Vashu thought it better to sign her for the role, than enter into a controversy. The hunt for an actress to play the sis continues.

Reality check

Actors have a penchant for selective amnesia, or so it appears. Ajay Devgan appears to be the most recent star to be thus afflicted.

Ajay Devgan Kuku Kohli, who directed Ajay in the actor's debut film, Phool Aur Kaante, has been chasing him for several months. Kuku wanted to cast Ajay in his new film. Ajay, though never disrespectful to the director, was not inclined to listen to the subject, leave alone give Kuku dates.

Suddenly, the tables have turned. Now, Ajay is pursuing Kuku. If you are wondering why, just list Ajay's string of recent flops.

Rani follows in Anil's footsteps

Mukesh Bhatt's Tum Ko Meri Kasam is going through troubled times. First, Anil Kapoor walked out of the film. Sources claim Rani Mukherjee may do likewise, this after completing a shooting schedule in Switzerland.

Rani Mukherjee The film, a love story, being directed by Vikram Bhatt, now stars Aftab Shivdasani in the lead.

Rani's decision is apparently prompted by the numerous interesting roles she is flooded with. Or is mentor and co-star Anil Kapoor advising her?
