"Not even one lakh job cards were distributed in West Bengal," she claimed. "In the name of democracy, the CPI-M has perpetrated dictatorship in the state... committing atrocities on political opponents and depriving the people of their legitimate rights," she alleged.
"You should ask this government why it failed to deliver the goods, why it suppressed democracy," Gandhi said, adding "had CPI-M's policies been proper, people would not be so poor in West Bengal."
Gandhi said that the United Progressive Alliance government had fulfilled its commitment to the people in the 2004 poll manifesto, including waiver of farm loans, introduction of the mid-day meal for school children, which was an 'example for the whole world'.
