Stephen Marandi supports UPA

March 02, 2005 14:28 IST

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha rebel Stephen Marandi on Wednesday said he supported the United Progressive Alliance in Jharkhand.

Marandi, along with another independent legislator Bandhu Tirkey, met Governor Syed Sibtey Razi in the morning and reiterated his support to the Congress-JMM combine.

Marandi fought the election as an independent after he was denied a ticket by the JMM.

On whether he would support Shibu Soren as chief minister, Marandi said, "My support to the UPA has nothing to do with who will be the next CM."
