Expect nothing from new govt: Hazare

Noted social worker Anna Hazare on Wednesday said any party voted to power in Maharashtra would not be able to carry out development work as the state was reeling under a heavy debt burden.

"The party that wins the polls will have no option but to seek additional loans to run the government as the state is spending 75 per cent of the budgetary allocation on administration and 15 per cent to pay interests on loans," he said in Ralegan Siddhi, near Ahmednagar.

"The state exchequer is weighed down by heavy debt. No developmental work is possible with the remaining 10 per cent", he said.

Appealing to voters not to elect candidates with corrupt, tainted and criminal backgrounds, Hazare said the new government should be small.
