Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Congress general secretary Ambika Soni said the entire Congress Congress Working Committee and all office-bearers of the All India Congress Committee have submitted their resignations to Gandhi in protest against her decision.

She said a delegation of senior leaders, including Gulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel and Natwar Singh, will meet Gandhi to put "as much pressure as possible" to make her withdraw her decision.

"We want to tell her that her decision is not acceptable and she should take it back," Soni said.

Asked about meetings with allies and friendly parties, she said that they have all been "pressuring" and "persuading" Gandhi to change her mind.
