Senior Congress leaders have been sent to various allies with the request for fresh letters as the earlier ones were for a government headed by Gandhi, sources said.

The party expects to secure them by afternoon and will then be handed over to President A P J Abdul Kalam, who is expected to invite Singh to form the new government.
