Congress president Sonia Gandhi will not be prime minister, Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Sitaram Yechury said in New Delhi on Tuesday.

It is up to the Congress to now decide who would be the PM, he added.

The Congress is now free to choose its own leader, he said

"We have no objection to Manmohan Singh as PM," he said.

He added that the party would handover a new letter of support to President A P J Abdul Kalam.
