'People are giving a fitting reply to the BJP'

Oscar Fernandes | May 13, 2004 09:58 IST

The Congress is extremely happy that our party is doing extremely well.

The Congress will considerably improve its electoral tally.

It is a vote against the BJP and the communal government the party headed.

It is an anti-establishment vote against the BJP.

There is going to be a massive verdict against the BJP. We expect the Congress to win. We were expecting that the results would be in our favour.

The results are proving that the so-called Indian shining campaign of the BJP was all hype, and no reality. People are giving a fitting reply to the BJP.

Definitely, we hope to form the next government. We are confident of it. Let the results be out by the evening. Our plan is getting readied.

We are in touch with all the secular allies. We expect all the secular parties in the country to support a Congress-led government.

The question of who will be the prime minister cannot be answered now. But it is a verdict for the Congress party.

Let the entire election results come. We will decide on the prime ministerial candidate in no time.

Congress General Secretary Oscar Fernandes appeared on the Rediff Election Chat at the Congress party headquarters in New Delhi
