The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday named Ram Vilas Vedanti, a Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader and former member of Parliament from Pratapgarh, to take on Rahul Gandhi in Amethi in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

Girish Narain Pande, an Ex-MLA, will contest against Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli.

Film Star Dharmendra has been nominated from Bikaner in Rajasthan, party sources said after a meeting of the Central Election Committee at Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence.

The party has also decided to field Chaudhary Shah Mohammad Khan, the general secretary of its minority cell, from Azamgarh.
