Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and other state BJP leaders were present to receive Advani, who traveled from nearby Thiruvananthapuram by road. Security has been tightened in Kanyakumari and adjoining areas in view of his visit.

Advani is embarking on a 33-day two-phased yatra in a specially built bus from this southern tip of India seeking a fresh mandate for the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies at the Centre.
