No alternative to Vajpayee: Advani

April 24, 2004 17:30 IST

There is no alternative to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, his deputy Lal Kishenchand Advani said on Saturday.

"Vajpayee is the only one and he will be the next prime minister," Advani said at a rally for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat, Kamakhya Tasha.

The Congress has no leader to run the nation, he said, adding, the political scenario in the country changed after the assassinations of former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv.

He said the National Democratic Alliance would create a new India and the country would be a superpower by 2020.
