Fever puts Rahul Gandhi out of campaign

April 16, 2004 02:48 IST

The rigours of an election campaign seems to have taken its toll of Rahul Gandhi, Congress candidate for Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, who is down with a viral ailment and has ruled out electioneering for three days.

"Rahul is unwell and we are evacuating him to Delhi," a close aide said in Amethi. He is suffering from viral fever and would remain in Delhi for the next three days.

Despite suffering from fever for the past two days, Rahul had participated in the campaign, party sources said.

Gandhi, along with his sister Priyanka Vadra, left for Delhi on Thursday evening. The siblings are likely to hit the campaign trail again from Monday and would be camping in Amethi and Rae Bareli, from where Congress president Sonia Gandhi is in fray, till the polls on April 26.
