Farah, Nagma may join Congress

April 04, 2004 20:53 IST

Film actresses Farah and Nagma are likely to join the Congress amidst indications that Farah may even contest from Meerut Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Farah is the daughter-in-law of Rajya Sabha MP and renowned wrestler-actor Dara Singh who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"The actresses have arrived in Delhi along with Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Affairs Kripa Shankar Singh and would be joining the party on Monday," party sources said.

They would be meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi before announcing their decision.

As far as Farah contesting from Meerut is concerned, it is only a proposal. Avtar Singh Bhadana represented the seat in the dissolved Lok Sabha but is understood to have sought a seat in Haryana this time.
