In an interview to rediff.com, Rama Pilot evaded replying whether contesting from Jhalrapatan would imply ditching Dausa. "Some decisions are taken by the party high command and as an obedient soldier, I obey them and do my best. My party has its reasons to ask me to fight from here against the BJP leader. I will do my best to ensure that I don't let the party down," she says.

Rama married Rajesh Pilot in 1974 when he was in the Indian Air Force (from where he took the surname Pilot). "This world of politics and that of an IAF wife are as apart as earth and heaven," she recalls. "Those were wonderful days, no doubt. I am happy to say I am still in touch with many people I knew then."
