Repolling peaceful in Nagaland

February 28, 2003 16:40 IST

Repolling in 51 booths spread over seven districts in Nagaland was smooth on Friday even as the exercise could not be carried out at two booths due to delay in communication, official sources said.

The booths were spread over Wokha, Kohima, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon and Phek districts, they said, adding repolling was held peacefully save for "some disruption" at Longsha village in Wokha district.

Repolling had been ordered in 15 booths in Wokha, the largest number among the districts.

The sources said as the Election Commission's approval for re-poll in case of certain booths was received only on Thursday night, it could not be held at two remote booths at Kiphire subdivision in Tuensang district.
