Hizb chief announced Rs 4 million reward for killing Farooq and Omar: Advani

Hizbul Mujahedeen chief Syed Salahuddin had announced a reward of Rs four million "to bump off" Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani said in New Delhi on Monday.

He told reporters that Salahuddin had also offered Rs one million for killing any candidate or campaigner participating in the assembly elections in the state.

"Terrorism is bad in itself, but this is more than terrorism," Advani said. "In a situation of this kind, polling itself becomes the touchstone" for a functioning democracy, he added.
