Sonia cancels Jammu visit

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday cancelled her visit to Jammu following the government's inability to provide her adequate security in the wake of increased militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, party officials said.

Gandhi was to address a rally in the Mandher and Noushera assembly constituencies in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, respectively, of Jammu region.

With just five days left for the first phase of the assembly election, militants carried out a series of attacks on Wednesday killing state Law Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Lone and 15 persons, including 13 security personnel.
