Congress shielding Godhra accused: Modi

The caretaker Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, has charged the Congress with shielding some of the accused in the attack on the Sabarmati Express in Godhra on February 27.

Addressing a gathering during the ninth phase of the Gaurav Yatra in Padra, Vadodara, on Tuesday, Modi asked, "Why does the Congress support those Muslims who are behind bars in connection with the train carnage?"

He accused the Congress of dividing the people of Gujarat on communal lines and creating a rift between them.

He asked the Muslims not to provide any shelter to criminals and to cooperate with the state in maintaining law and order.
