Security beefed up in Godhra
for Modi's yatra

Security has been tightened for the ninth phase of Chief Minister Narendra Modi's 'Gaurav Yatra', which will cover the troubled Godhra town.

Godhra was the scene of a bloody carnage on February 27 in which 58 persons, mostly kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya, were burnt alive in a train.

The massacre had triggered over three months of communal frenzy in Gujarat claiming over 800 lives.

Commencing from temple town of Dakor in Anand district, the yatra would take Modi across the length and breadth of Panchmahals district.

Panchmahals Superintendent of Police Narsimha Komar told PTI over the phone that in addition to the local police, two companies of para-military forces have been stationed in the district.
