The militants lobbed the grenade on the campaign vehicle, a Tata Sumo, and managed to escape. The police and security forces who were rushed to the spot immediately, cordoned off the entire area.

Today is the last day of campaigning in Doda where BJP candidate Chaman Lal Gupta has an edge over his rival National Conference candidate . Doda goes to polls on Saturday in the second phase.

After this incident security has been further beefed up in the entire district. The police said the poll staff has been imparted necessary training. The chief secretary and the state police chief reviewed the situation in the district with senior officers.
