Laloo pledges to carry the fight forward

His crushing defeat at the hands of his arch-rival has certainly left Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav a depressed man. Fielding the obligatory queries from the media he nevertheless feigned nonchalance by saying that the setback was temporary and that he would rebound with renewed vigour.

''The BJP conspired to defeat me. The central forces were specially stationed in areas where my party is unbeatable and they were specifically told to assist in rigging the ballot.'' How else, the former Bihar chief minister continued, could a politician with such mass support like him ever lose in his home constituency?

The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader said that the results in Bihar will in no way compromise his and his party's commitment to carry on with their ''struggle for social progress and justice for the backward castes''.
