Jagmohan wins from New Delhi

Union Urban Development Minister Jagmohan retained his New Delhi Lok Sabha seat defeating his arch rival R K Dhawan (Congress) by a margin of 27,893 votes.

Jagmohan secured a total of 1,24,626 votes, while Dhawan, polled 96,893 votes.

Almost an hour before the formal announcement of the result, Jagmohan, on the completion of the counting, came out of the main gate of the counting centre at the N P Boys Senior Secondary School, to accept the greetings of his supporters assembled outside. There was a lot of jubilation.

Later, the returning officer announced on the public address system that the Election Commission has cleared the result and that Jagmohan has been declared elected.
