EC orders repoll in 166 booths in Bihar

The Election Commission today ordered a repoll in 270 stations in seven states tomorrow, including 166 in Bihar, where the electoral process was vitiated yesterday.

While 16 of the polling booths are in Madhepura, where former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav is pitted against Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav, six are in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, where Congress president Sonia Gandhi takes on former Union minister Sanjay Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Besides these, polling will be held tomorrow in 363 polling stations in West Bengal where it was adjourned yesterday on account of heavy rains.

The other states were repolling will be held tomorrow are Andhra Pradesh (17 booths), Arunachal Pradesh (1), Orissa (9), Tripura (3), and Uttar Pradesh (20).

Repolling will also be held in two polling stations in Kaliabor constituency in Assam. A repoll in another 49 polling stations in Assam will be conducted on October 6.

Deputy Election Commissioner Subhash Pani said counting of votes in constituencies where polling has been concluded will be taken up on October 6 as scheduled.
