Satish Sharma to take on Arun Nehru

Former Union minister Satish Sharma will be the Congress candidate against the Bharatiya Janata Party's Arun Nehru at Rae Bareilly in the Lok Sabha elections, the party announced in New Delhi today.

Senior party leader Narayan Dutt Tewari has been fielded from his home turf Nainital while former Union minister Satpal Maharaj is the party's nominee from Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency.

The son and daughter of the late Hemavathi Nandan Bahuguna are among the 17 Congress candidates from Uttar Pradesh. While Vijay Bahuguna will contest from Tehri Garhwal, Rita Bahuguna Joshi will take on Bharatiya Janata Party stalwart Murli Manohar Joshi at Allahabad.

Joshi, who is the mayor of Allahabad, recently joined the Congress. The pradesh Congress president Salman Kurshid's wife Louis Kurshid is contesting from Farukabad. Other candidates are Harish Rawat (Almora), Vibhakhar Shastri (Fatehpur), Rajindar Singh Lodhi (Hamirpur), Ram Prasad Ahirwal (Jaloun, SC), Sarita Bhaduria (Etawah), Raja Digvijay Narain Singh (Kannauj), Munshilal Chamar (Mainpuri), Javed Ali (Jalesar), Rajendra Singh Chauhan (Etah), Usha Rani Tomar (Aligarh) and Satya Behn (Khurja, SC).
