Jaya denies allegations over Sonia meet

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham chief J Jayalalitha has denied that she had 'deliberately kept away from the joint campaign meeting', in which she was scheduled to participate along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi at Villupuram on Sunday last.

She was reacting for the first time yesterday to set the record straight in view of widespread speculation that the very alliance was at stake.

Addressing a campaign meeting, she took exception to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remarks on her failure to turn up for the meeting. She said both Sonia and the people were well aware that she was caught in a 'sea of humanity' at an election meeting in Tambaram, en route to the meeting venue.

Vowing to end the 'family politics' pursued by Karunanidhi, Jayalalitha alleged that he was blinded by the arrogance of power. "I will send him home," she added.
