Hema campaigns for Vinod Khanna

The latest Bollywood star to hit the poll campaign is Hema Malini, who has pitched in for her one-time colleague and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vinod Khanna. He is seeking re-election from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency.

Addressing several rallies yesterday, she described Khanna as an honest person, and appealed to the voters to re-elect him.

Besides, she urged people, seen jostling to have a look of the Dream Girl of the 1970s, to vote for the Akali Dal-BJP alliance in Punjab in order to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

''We need just one vote of yours to enable Mr Vajpayee form the next government.''

Vinod Khanna later told newspersons that he had spent Rs 21.2 million on various developmental works in Gurdaspur district from the constituency development fund.
