Soren calls for unity among Jharkhand parties

E-Mail this report to a friend

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha president Shibu Soren Tuesday reiterated that his party would not join the Jharkhand Front nor have any seat-sharing agreement with it.

Soren said that it would be in the larger interest of the movement for a separate state if all Jharkhand parties merged with the JMM. The reunion of the Jharkhand forces would project the demand and check the division of pro-state votes.

As most of the existing Jharkhand parties are offshoots of the JMM, Soren continued, there would be no problem in adjusting them if they decided to return unconditionally. ''We welcome the homecoming of one and all for the realisation of Jharkhand.''

Holding the national political parties responsible for the delay in the creation of Jharkhand, he said his party on principle had decided not to have any relation with those who had betrayed the people. The JMM would contest the election on its own to re-establish the identity of the pro-state forces.

''The JMM was a loser when it aligned with the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar,'' he said.
