'Sehwag has got a couple of years left in him'

England great Geoffrey Boycott might have written him off, but the out-of-form Virender Sehwag received support from former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu, who said the opener was far from finished.

"Sehwag is a phenomena. He is a miracle. Nothing is over. Sehwag is an institution. Which opener used to bat at number seven and became an opener and made 2500 with an average of 50?" Sidhu said on Thursday.

"Sehwag is an impact player. Match winner, I don't think he is finished. He has got another couple of years left in him. If he has the desire, he can put the world on his side. He has the ability," the former India player said at the launch of his website, 'Sherry on Topp'.

Boycott had recently said Sehwag was unlikely to play for India again and that the opener will "sadly fade away".

'No one is perfect '

Sehwag was dropped for the last two Tests against Australia in March and was also excluded from the list of 30 probables for the Champions Trophy.

In eight Test matches since April 2012, he has managed to score just 408 runs at an average of 31.38, with 117 being his best.

In six ODIs, in the same period, he scored 183 runs at an average of 30.5 and was dropped for the series against England.

His last ODI century was the double hundred against the West Indies in December 2011.

On the on-field spat between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, Sidhu said, "The taste of water from different wells is different. The fingerprints of two individual is never the same.

"Manoj Prabhakar was aggressive. Harbhajan is aggressive. Gavaskar wasn't. His was inbuilt. Kumble was inbuilt, Dravid was inbuilt. Every person is different. This is a charm. This is his instinct to react.

"Venkatesh Prasad pointed the dressing room to Aamir Sohail. I had a tiff with Aamir Sohail. You remember those things. They are the flavour. No one is perfect. There is a flaw in each and every person. If you say someone is perfect, I won't agree."

About Kohli, who is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL, Sidhu said, "He is like an FDI. You can cash him with compound interest.

"You have got to fine tune people. Even a Mercedes, if it has some dirt in its spark plug, it doesn't go smoothly."
