PHOTOS: England's cricketers party with fans after Ashes win

It was a cracking day of cricket at the Oval on Sunday, a perfect finale to what had been a grueling series.

The England cricket team fans had a great time.

It was a lively day for the man of the moment -- Kevin Pietersen – who was at the receiving end of kisses from fans.

The fans piled up near the boundary to congratulate the players.

They made sure that Alastair Cook did not feel left out.

The English captain no doubt enjoyed the attention showered on him.

Both teams fought for a result and turned out to be an entertaining day.

While Australia didn't hesitate to declare at tea, England ensured the chase was an entertaining afafir.

The fans got their money's worth.

The whole outfield was a mass of red and silver with smoke everywhere.

It's a historic moment no doubt.

For the first time in more than 50 years had England retained the urn for a third straight time.

The Ashes urn is only six inches high but means the world to the England cricket fans.

They waited, in bated breathe, for their captain (Alastair Cook) to kiss it.

Since the fourth day was lost due to rain the players were itching to entertain.

Kevin Pietersen, with a quickfire fifty, ensured there was enough fireworks in the final session.
