Play on the second day of the first Test between New Zealand and India at Basin Reserve was delayed by heavy overnight and morning rain on Friday.
The ground was bathed in sunshine at the 1030 am scheduled start time as groundstaff worked to dry out the outfield and play was
not expected to start until after lunch.
An anti-war slogan written in petrol on the outfield overnight caused no permanent damage and will not affect the match.
New Zealand finished the first day on 53 for one in reply to India's 161.
