New Zealand spoil Pietersen's captaincy debut, beat England to clinch series 3-1

New Zealand [Images] clinched a 3-1 win in the series by cruising to a 51-run victory over England [Images] in the fifth and final one-dayer at Lord's on Saturday, ensuring Kevin Pietersen's [Images] debut as captain ended in defeat.

Scorecard

The home team, chasing 267 to win, were bowled out for 215 with skipper Daniel Vettori [Images] taking three for 32 with his left-arm spin. Owais Shah top scored with 69.

Earlier, Scott Styris and Jacob Oram [Images] hit half-centuries to guide New Zealand to 266 for five in 50 overs.

The second match in the series was abandoned as a no-result.
