Chandigarh Lions hardly broke a sweat to defeat Hyderabad Heroes by six wickets in a 50-over-a-side Indian Cricket League domestic tournament match at Lahari Resorts in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Put in to bat, Hyderabad Heroes made 222 runs in 49.4 overs and Chandigarh Lions chased down the target in just 34 overs and losing four wickets in the process.

The Hyderabad Heroes started their innings on a disastrous note with opener Shashank Nag returning to the hut in the third over with just eight runs on the board.

The other opener PS Niranjan (87) and captain Anirudh Singh then got the innings going and crossed 100 run mark in the 27th over.

Indra Sekhar Reddy made a quickfire 22-ball 23 down the order to help Hyderabad Heroes reach 222 all out in 49.4 overs.

Niranjan's patient 87 came from 130 balls and was studded with 11 boundaries.

For Chandigarh Lions, strike bowler Amit Uniyal took four wickets for 31 runs from 10 overs which earned him the man of the match award.

In reply, Chandigarh Lions scored at a blistering pace. Openers Chetan Sharma and Manish Sharma (48) put on an 80-run partnership for the first wicket before being separated.

This led a strong foundation for the Chandigarh side which surpassed the target of 223 with 16 overs to spare. T P Singh (48) was the other main contributor for Chandigarh.

With this win, Chandigarh Lions also earned a bonus point while Hyderabad Heroes face the threat of being knocked out of the tournament.
