- Scorecard

South Africa declared their first innings at their overnight score of 494 for 7, on Day 3, leaving India the improbable task of saving the second Test in Ahmedabad.

The visitors have a mammoth first innings lead of 418 runs, after India were dismissed for 76 in their first innings.

AB de Villiers was unbeaten on 217, his maiden double century in Tests, while Jacques Kallis scored 132.

The start of play on Saturday was delayed by half an hour because of a wet outfield at the Sardar Patel stadium.

Heavy rain on Friday forced an early to play on the second day, because of which 12.4 overs were lost.

Play was scheduled to start at 0900 IST, but was delayed because of a few wet patches in the outfield.

With the sun shining brightly, one can rest assured of a full day's play on Saturday.
