A rebel Indian Twenty20 league due to start next month has been postponed to mid-November because of logistical problems, organisers said on Monday.

The lucrative Indian Cricket League (ICL), which has attracted a number of big-name players, has come under pressure after the Board of Control for Cricket in India refused to give the ICL its approval.

The BCCI later announced it would launch its own multi-million dollar version from next year, with the support of other major boards, including those of Sri Lanka [Images] and Pakistan.

In a weekend television interview, former India captain Kapil Dev [Images], who heads the ICL board, admitted there had been problems but said the league would start in November.

"We all sat together and decided that the middle of November is the right time. At that time, even the international players are free to play the tournament," he told the CNN-IBN channel.

The ICL was launched in April by India's Essel Group, which owns the country's biggest listed media firm Zee Telefilms Ltd.

Retired West Indies [Images] skipper Brian Lara [Images] and the Pakistani quartet of Inzamam-ul Haq, Mohammad Yousuf [Images], Imran Farhat [Images] and Abdul Razzaq [Images] have agreed to play in the ICL, as have South Africans Lance Klusener and Nicky Boje.

A number of Indian domestic players have also joined the league despite BCCI threats to ban them.
