Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Praveen Kumar, the only new-face in India's one-day squad for the first two matches against Pakistan, escaped unhurt on Monday after falling off an open vehicle during a reception organised to felicitate him.

The incident occurred on the Delhi-Meerut road when the cricketer, who was travelling in an open vehicle stopped to acknowledge the cheers from fans following his motorcade.

It was not clear how Praveen fell, but it could be because of the jostling and shoving as the fans wanted to garland the city boy.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital and X-rays did not reveal any injury, police said.

Praveen later went to practice at a nearby ground.
