The Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar [Images] scotched speculation that the current Director of the National Cricket Academy, Dav Whatmore, is in the race for the coach's job.

Pawar said since Whatmore had already been appointed for the NCA job, there was no question of considering him for the coach's post.

"No (he's not in the race). He has already been appointed," the BCCI chief said in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Earlier, Whatmore had applied for the job but the BCCI coach selection committee rejected his application and picked South African Graham Ford.

However, Ford eventually opted to stick to his job with English county side Kent.

Following this embarrassment, BCCI invited fresh applications for the coach, while Whatmore was appointed for the NCA.
