Defending champions India succumbed to a run-riot from Pakistani batsmen and suffered a 48-run defeat at the hands of their arch-rivals in the semi-finals of a six-a-side cricket tournament in Hong Kong on Sunday.

Captain Imran Nazir [Images] (28), Yasir Arafat (31) and Hassan Reza (32) belted the Indian attack with utter ruthlessness to amass 131 runs, the highest total in the tournament so far.

Pakistan, however, lost to a Nicky Boje-led South African team by 12 runs in the title clash.

South Africa became richer by US $100,000 while Pakistan, as runners-up, earned a purse of US $50,000.

Later, India defeated West Indies [Images] by two wickets to finish third and take home a purse of US $36,000.

Chasing 132 to make it to the final, India began badly, losing last year's man of the series Reetinder Singh Sodhi (8) early.

Sanjay Bangar, who top-scored with 30, led the chase, but the Indians lacked the firepower in their willows to overhaul such a huge total.

"It was quite an onslaught. I have never really seen anything like that before," said India captain Robin Singh.

Pakistan captain Imran Nazir hailed his batsmen for the sensational victory.

"It was an amazing batting performance from Yasir Arafat (who hit five consecutive sixes) and Hassan Reza," Nazir said.

"I have been at the Sixes five times but I have never seen someone hit five sixes in one over like Yasir.

"Our plan was to put 100 plus in our innings, that is what I told our guys to aim for."
