Coach Greg Chappell [Images] supports BCCI's contention that India needed to clash more regularly against the top teams in the world, saying such contests would be welcomed in most quarters.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is at loggerheads with the International Cricket Council [Images], with India keen to play against the likes of Australia [Images] and England [Images] more frequently than is currently the case.

"Without getting into the politics, I've been watching with interest and I'm not unhappy with what I see," Chappell told BBC Radio Five Live.

"What we saw in the Ashes - the intense interest around the world - is good for cricket. I still think despite the Ashes loss that Australia consistently are the best team going around.

"But England, Pakistan, India, even South Africa [Images], are closing the gap on Australia and that's good for cricket."

India hope to play England every two years and Australia every three years.
