All rounder Jacques Kallis [Images] could fly home from South Africa's tour of Australia to receive treatment on an elbow injury, captain Graeme Smith [Images] said on Tuesday.

Kallis was a late withdrawal from South Africa's side for their triangular series one-day match against Sri Lanka [Images] in Brisbane on Tuesday after suffering a recurrence of the injury that has plagued him all tour.

"He had a re-scan today and it doesn't look good," Smith told reporters in Brisbane after the 94-run loss to Sri Lanka. "It would pretty much look like he's going home."

Smith said a decision on whether Kallis returned home would be made on Wednesday. South Africa play Australia in the next match of the series on Friday at Melbourne's Docklands Stadium.

Kallis missed the first Test against Australia in Perth last month because of the injury although he played the final two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney.

South Africa are scheduled to host Australia for three Tests and five one-day internationals in February and March.
